Please choose a topic to the left to learn about our approach. The Key to Perpetuating Your Family’s Legacy Perhaps the greatest gift we can give our children is the knowledge and wisdom of our experience. The education program we develop reaches far beyond how to read a financial statement. We work with your family to help you perpetuate the rich fabric that is your family history and your family enterprise. When the next generation receives this gift they will feel informed, included, and a part of something bigger than themselves. They will understand where they fit in the family. Family History The unique and personal story as far back as the elders can remember, captured in their own words if possible. Where have we come from? How did this family achieve the American Dream? What sacrifices did the family make along the way? How has the enterprise become a part of the Family story? In what is often an emotionally powerful event, we work with your family to collect and present its history to the younger generation. Family Values New generations are made aware of the values the Family has taken as their core beliefs. The current generation can help them understand how these traits have formed the guiding principles that help them to make both enterprise and family decisions. Each new generation will also discover and explore their own value set through a series of introspective exercises. Knowledge of the Family Enterprise Often the younger generation of a family does not understand much about what the family enterprise is. They may not understand how or why the business was founded or the purpose of its existence today. From the leaders of the business, they will learn what the company does, how it is managed, how it impacts them, their family and their community. The Family Continuity Plan Younger Family members frequently do not understand what decision making systems are and how or why the Family utilizes them. What is a Family Council? How do you become a part of it? What effect does the Family Continuity Plan have on them? How does the Family effectively communicate outside of Family meetings? Working through the family council, we help to elicit the Family’s story, which explains through the values, mission and vision of the family how the Family Continuity Plan came to be. |
